Sometimes, I hear people saying something like “I can’t do [insert] because I am not [insert]” or “… because I don’t have the knowledge”. This may be true at that moment… A question for these people: What is stopping you becoming what you need to be, so you can do what you want? Or What is stopping you from learning what you need to know, so you can do what you want?
Some business and people do not like negative feedback and I can relate to them. I prefer negative feedback over the positive one, as it shows me the things I can improve, while the positive feedback is only for my personal ego.
Most people love success and when they achieve it, they love reviewing how they did it, so they can do it again. All good here. By itself, it is a good idea to re-use what we know works. I do like success and so on. Then again, success is like arriving at your destination. You got there and that is it. There is no more, especially there is nothing else to learn. As much as I dislike failure, I like the fact that it does challenge me to become a better me. It challenges me to innovate, to make a bigger effort and it makes me grow and become stronger.
I hear many managers talk about how they can motivate the people they manage. Motivation can come and go in no time, and it is a lot of work to sustain. I believe the leaders, the manager’s role is to inspire the people they lead, as inspired people will only do a top-quality job, where innovation and creativity are the norm.
Through history, we’ve seen case after case of things that were deem “impossible” until someone prove them wrong. So, the only person standing between me and the future I want is myself, my mindset. Once I removed this “obstacle”, the rest was easy…
I find a common trend in business in which individual tend to praise themselves, how good they are and so on. Furthermore, the like to surround themselves with people that are less knowledgeable. This leads to stagnation and obsolescence. I prefer to be part of a team where I collaborate, look for new points of view, new approaches, new ways to learn and improve and then take the best the team has to create the optimal solution. Furthermore, I like to surround myself with people that challenge me to bring the best of myself, people that are more knowledgeable than me, so I can learn and improve myself.
