Some people believes that they can’t be happy and fulfil until they have this or they have that, etc. The sad part is that with this thinking, they will never be happy and feel fulfil. As Marcus Aurelius put it, happiness and fulfilment must come from within yourself and they are the result what you do in life and the people you surround yourself with. To start with, are you doing what you want to do or are you doing what other people think you must do?
Sometimes, I hear people saying something like “I can’t do [insert] because I am not [insert]” or “… because I don’t have the knowledge”. This may be true at that moment… A question for these people: What is stopping you becoming what you need to be, so you can do what you want? Or What is stopping you from learning what you need to know, so you can do what you want?
Some business and people do not like negative feedback and I can relate to them. I prefer negative feedback over the positive one, as it shows me the things I can improve, while the positive feedback is only for my personal ego.
Most people love success and when they achieve it, they love reviewing how they did it, so they can do it again. All good here. By itself, it is a good idea to re-use what we know works. I do like success and so on. Then again, success is like arriving at your destination. You got there and that is it. There is no more, especially there is nothing else to learn. As much as I dislike failure, I like the fact that it does challenge me to become a better me. It challenges me to innovate, to make a bigger effort and it makes me grow and become stronger.
Many people talk about the positive and wonderful things they want to do and achieve. Seldom they have the positive vision to make it a reality. Any positive outcome must come from within each one of us. If we only have negative inside…
I hear many managers talk about how they can motivate the people they manage. Motivation can come and go in no time, and it is a lot of work to sustain. I believe the leaders, the manager’s role is to inspire the people they lead, as inspired people will only do a top-quality job, where innovation and creativity are the norm.
